whole wheat hamentaschen

keep in mind that you need to soak the prunes 24 h before you start!

Ingredients

  • 1.25 cup all purpose flour
  • 1.25 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 stick marg.
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbs orange juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 6 oz prunes (not filling)
  • 1/2 cup macintosh apples
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 rind of lemon

Directions

  1. mix baking powder and flour.

  2. cream butter and sugar and add egg to mix. mix in oj and dry ingreidends to butter mix alternately.

  3. when all mixed add vanilla.

  4. put in fridge for a few hours.

  5. filling: 24 hours before making hamentashen soak prunes in water.

  6. take out of watter and icut to small peices and put in sauce pan.

  7. mix apples and prunes (it should look 2/3 prune 1/3 apple add lj. and rind cook over low flame till looks cooked.

  8. make hamentashen and put in oven at 375 for 8-15 minutes or till lightly browned.
