Reunion Meatballs

Serves 8 people

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup crushed saltines (about 15 crackers)
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1/2 pound bulk pork sausage
  • 1 bottle (14 ounces) ketchup
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Dash salt

Directions

  1. In large bowl, combine the first six ingredients.

  2. Crumble beef and sausage over mixture and mix well.

  3. Shape into 1 1/2 inch balls.

  4. Place in a greased 13 by 9 by 2 inch baking dish.

  5. In a saucepan, combine the sauce ingredients.

  6. Bring to a boil; reduce heat.

  7. Simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes.

  8. Pour over meatballs.

  9. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours or until meat is no longer pink.
