Jiaozi

(from sanzohoushi’s recipe box)

Categories: Chinese, dinner, ground beef

Ingredients

  • (Note: vegetable amounts are approximate and should be adjusted as desired)
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 3 C cabbage, finely chopped
  • 3 C carrots, finely chopped
  • soy sauce
  • worchestshire sauce
  • garlic powder
  • salt
  • 1-2 packages square wonton wrappers
  • oil

Directions

  1. Mix together ground beef, lettuce, and carrots

  2. Add sauces, garlic, and salt to taste (usually quite a bit of each – you can usually tell by the smell if it’s a good mixture for you)

  3. Wrap meat mixture in wonton skins (follow directions on wonton skin package). You’ll only need a little bit of meat in each wrapper

  4. Put oil in deep pan or deep fryer, heat on medium to medium-high heat

  5. Fry jiaozi until golden-brown, flipping occasionally for an even amount of cooking

  6. Suspend on cooling racks over many paper towels so extra oil can drip off

  7. Serve with soy sauce and rice
