Vegetarian Whole Wheat American Chop Suey

Ingredients

  • 1 package Morningstar Farms Veggie Crumbles (or any 1 lb ground beef substitute)
  • 1 14.5oz can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 14.5oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1 8 oz can tomato paste
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 medium green bell pepper
  • 1 16 oz box whole wheat elbows
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup water

Directions

  1. In a large skillet sauté garlic, onion and green pepper in olive oil. Add ground beef and cook until beef is browned. Add tomato paste, stewed, diced tomato, sugar and water.

  2. Simmer on low heat for 30 minutes. Cook whole wheat elbows according to package instructions and drain, but do not rinse

  3. In a large bowl, mix sauce over elbows.
