Mom’s Chili

This chili was at many a family function as I grew up. Pair with cornbread for full memories. Can double and triple easily. Freeezes great.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 -28 oz. can whole tomatoes in thick tomato puree
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (about 3/4 cup)
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1-2 tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. oregano, crushed
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 can(15-16 oz.) kidney beans, drained(1 3/4 cups)

Directions

  1. In skillet or slow cooking pot with browning unit, cook meat on med-hi until it loses it’s pink color, Drain off fat. Dump into crock pot, add all ingredients and stir with a fork, breaking tomatoes into small pieces. Cook, covered, on hi for 3-4 hours.
