Shepherd’s Pie

Optional add-ins: corn, peas, celery

Cook time: 20 minutes
Serves 6 people

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 1 medium carrot (chopped) or strings
  • 2 tsp "Bisto"
  • 2 'blobs' ketchup
  • 2 lbs potatoes
  • 1 T butter
  • 2-3 T milk

Directions

  1. Brown the beef and drain

  2. Add carrot and onion and simmer for a few minutes

  3. Mix Bisto with some cold water and add to the mixture-stirring well

  4. Add the ketchup-mix well and simmer for 20 minutes

  5. Peel and cook the potatoes until soft(about 20-25 minutes) Mash with butter and milk.

  6. Put the meat mixture in the bottom of an oven proof dish. Let it cool a little. Add potatoes on top

  7. Cook for about 20 minutes in oven at 350 degrees

  8. Some people like sprinkled cheese on top.
