Aunt Sue’s french Toast Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar firmly packed
  • 1 loaf unsliced french bread- remove ends
  • 6 lg eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 tspn vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar
  • Warm pancake syrup

Directions

  1. Melt butter in small saucepan add brown sugar and cook until syrupy

  2. Pour into 9×13 casserole dish

  3. Slice bread into 1 in thick slices and place on top of sugar mixture

  4. Beat eggs, milk, and vanilla and pour over bread slices’

  5. Cover and fridge overnight

  6. Uncover and bake in preheated oven 350 degrees for 45 min

  7. Sift powdered sugar on top and serve with warm syrup
