Simple Italian Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp of olive oil
  • 1 small onion (finely diced)
  • 5 cloves of garlic (finely diced)
  • 2 (28 oz) cans of crushed tomatoes.
  • 1/2 cup of freshly and finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 Tbsp of freshly chopped basil
  • 2 Tbsp of freshly chopped parsley
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 tsp of freshly ground black pepper

Directions

  1. In a large sauce pan, combine the olive oil and the garlic and onion (cook on low/medium heat until golden brown on edges and fragrant)

  2. Next, add the cans of crushed tomatoes and stir. Cook on low heat for about 5-10 minutes (until sauce starts to boil).

  3. Add the grated Parmesan cheese and stir until the cheese has melted into the sauce.

  4. Add the basil, parsley, salt, and pepper. Continue to allow the sauce to boil on medium/low heat for another 5-10 minutes.
