*Beef Stir Fry with Oyster Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp sake
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp light brown sugar
  • 300 grams lean beef frying steak
  • 1 tbsp corn oil
  • 1 small onion, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 garlic clove, peeled and crushed
  • 1 carrot, peeled and cut into strips
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup baby sweet corn
  • 1 cup sugar-snap peas or zucchini, cut into strips
  • 1 red pepper, cut into strips
  • Rice

Directions

  1. Combine marinade ingredients in a bowl; add beef and leave for 30 minutes.

  2. Remove beef and set aside, reserving marinade.

  3. Meanwhile, heat the corn oil in a wok.

  4. Add half the onion and stir-fry until softened.

  5. Add beef and stir-fry until cooked, then remove and set aside.

  6. Heat the sesame oil in the wok and stir-fry the remaining onion and the garlic for 2-3 minutes.

  7. Add the carrot, broccoli and sweet corn and stir-fry 3-4 minutes.

  8. Add the peas and red pepper; stir-fry for 3-4 minutes more.

  9. Return the beef strips to the wok, pour in the marinade and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes more.

  10. Serve with rice.
