Bengali traditional dish Mutton kasha is very spicy, delicious & mouth-watering. This recipe is quite simple to cook.

Ingredients

  • 1. Mutton : 500 gm (medium size pieces)
  • 2. Onion paste: 300 gm
  • 3. Garlic paste : 2 tbsp
  • 4. Ginger paste : 1 tbsp
  • 5. Tomato puree : 4 tbsp
  • 6. Curd: 4 tbsp
  • 7. Salt: to taste
  • 8. Sugar : 1 tsp
  • 9. Oil : 1 1/2 cup
  • 10. Garam masala paste : 2 tsp
  • 11. Roasted cumin powder : 1 tsp
  • 12. Whole cinnamon: 1”
  • 13. Whole cardamom : 2 pieces
  • 14. Whole clove: 2 pieces
  • 15. Whole pepper : 4 pieces
  • 16. Bay leaves : 1 piece
  • 17. Turmeric powder : 1 tsp
  • 18. Red kashmiri chilli powder : 2 tsp
  • 19. Water: 1 cup

Directions

  1. Marinate the mutton pieces with onion paste, garlic paste, ginger paste, turmeric powder, red kashmiri chilli powder, curd for 4 hours.
  2. Heat oil in a wok.
  3. Add bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, pepper & stir well.
  4. When it changes its colour add marinated mutton with the masala in it. Stir well.
  5. Cook till oil releases from the masala.
  6. Add tomato puree, salt, sugar & cook for 2 minutes.
  7. Pour 1 cup of water. Cover with a lid & cook till the mutton becomes tender.
  8. Spread garam masala paste & roasted cumin powder. Stir well.
  9. Remove from heat & serve hot.
