Creole Chocolate Cake-FIlling

Ingredients

  • 2/3 Cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3 cup flaked coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup chilled heavy cream

Directions

  1. In saucepan, coine sugar,e vaporated milk, egg yolks and shortening.

  2. Cook and stir over medium heat, until mixture comes to a oil. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla, coconut and pecans.

  3. Cool. SPread over cake, in small bowl beat cream until stiff, spoon over filing, place cake layer on top.
