Date-Nut Bars

Ingredients

  • 2 c sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 - 2 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c melted butter
  • 2 c chopped dates
  • 2 c chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350

  2. In a large bowl, beat together sugar and eggs.

  3. Add the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and vanilla and mix well.

  4. Add themelted butter and mix to combine. Fold in the dates and walnuts.

  5. Pour the batter into a greased or waxed paper-lined 9 × 13-in pan.

  6. Bake at 350F for 30-40 minutes, until top is golden brown and crispy and knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. Cool, cut into bars, and serve
