Overnight French Toast Bake

Ingredients

  • 12 slices of day-old French Bread, 1/4” thick
  • 6 beaten eggs
  • 1-1/2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Cinnamon-sugar for dusting

Directions

  1. Spread a large baking or jelly roll pan (with at least 1-inch high sides)with butter or spray with nonstick cooking spray. Arrange bread slices in pan. Whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, syrup, vanilla, salt and nutmeg or cinnamon, if using.

  2. Pour evenly over bread and turn slices to ensure all are coated evenly. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

  3. Remove from fridge about 10 minutes before baking. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and bake 10 minutes. Turn bread slices over and continue to bake until golden brown. Dust with cinnamon-sugar.
