Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Serves 4 people

Ingredients

  • 8 cabbage leaves
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • 1 lb ground pastured beef
  • 2 T. soy sauce
  • 1 t. garlic powder
  • 1 salt
  • 1 t. black ground pepper
  • SAUCE
  • 1 (8-oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 T. brown sugar
  • 1 T. lemon juice
  • 1 t. soy sauce

Directions

  1. Prepare rice by following package directions. Wash cabbages leaves.

  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Dip cabbage leaves in boiling water for about 2 minutes; drain.

  3. In a large bowl combine 1 cup cooked rice, ground beef, egg, milk, onion, garlic powder, soy sauce, salt, and pepper.

  4. Place 1/4 cup of meat and rice mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf. Roll and tuck the ends so that it contains the mixture. Place rolls in a large skillet and pour the sauce over the top.

  5. Cover and bring to a boil; reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 40 minutes
