Bele Saru

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Toor Dhal
  • 1 Tomato, chopped
  • 1 tsp Tamcom
  • 1.5 tsp Saru powder
  • 1/2 tsp Bella or Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • Dash of Hingu (Asafetida)
  • 5 stalks cilantro

Directions

  1. Place toor dhal in 3 cups water. Bring to a boil and simmer until dhal is tender. Add tomatoes and cook for 3 minutes. Add water, tamcon, sari pudi, bella and salt to taste. Boil for 5 minutes. In a small pan heat ghee, add mustard seeds, allow to pop. Add hinge, curry leaves. Add seasoning into saru. Add cilantro and turn off heat.
