Magic Fudge Truffles

(from cokerlj’s recipe box)

Very easy and a very old recipe.
This was the only fudge mother ever made…never fails.
Original recipe calls for semi-sweet chocolate chips, you can use these or milk chocolate chips.

Ingredients

  • 1 12 ounce package semi-sweet chocolate chips (or milk chocolate if desired)
  • 1 can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup pecan pieces
  • pinch salt

Directions

  1. In top of double boiler melt the chocolate over hot (not boiling) water; stir a few times to keep smooth. (You can also melt chips in a microwave…be careful not to get “hot spots” and stir often.)

  2. Remove from heat. Add Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk, salt, vanilla and pecans.

  3. Stir only until smooth.

  4. Turn into pan lined with waxed paper and press into block 1 inch high. (You can use a buttered 9×7 inch pan.)

  5. Chill in refrigerator until firm…about 2 hours.

  6. Turn out of pan; remove waxed paper; cut into serving pieces, store in old fashioned tin container.
