Totsy’s Pralines

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup white Karo
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups pecan pieces


  1. Boil together the first 4 ingredients until when dropped into a small bowl of ice water candy will be almost of caramel consistency or will roll into a ball. (Soft ball on your candy thermometer.)

  2. Remove from fire, cool 15 minutes.

  3. Then beat with a heavy duty mixer until creamy and thick. Add vanilla, margarine, salt and pecans.

  4. Drop by teaspoon onto buttered wax paper.

  5. They will be ready for storage in half hour.
