Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon
  • 2 large onions chopped
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 11 ounce cans dry lima beans drained (these might be referred to as large butter beans(
  • 1 11 ounce can green lima beans drained
  • 1 11 ounce can red kidney beans drained
  • 1 15 ounce jar baked beans

Directions

  1. TIP: The sizes of cans have changed…just get close, if slightly larger can even better. I can not find the jarred beans in my area anymore so I just use a good brand of baked beans in a can, something with some brown sugar sweetness to it.

  2. Fry bacon until crisp. Crumble and set aside. Save bacon grease.

  3. Add to bacon grease onion, garlic, brown sugar, dry mustard, cider vinegar and cook slowly for 30 minutes.

  4. Combine all cans of beans in a 3 quart baking dish or bean pot.

  5. Add crumbled up bacon and cooked onion mixture. Combine well.

  6. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.
