Frosted Shortbread

Ingredients

  • 1 c butter, softened (do not substitute)
  • 1 c packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 milk chocolate candy bars (1.55 oz each), broken into rectangles
  • 1/2 c chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar

  2. Add egg yolk and vanilla; mix well

  3. Combine flour and salt; add to creamed mixture

  4. Press into a greased 15×10×1 in baking pan

  5. Bake at 350 for 15-18 min or until golden brown

  6. Immediately place candy bar pieces over crust

  7. Let stand for 1 min or until softened; spread chocolate evenly

  8. Sprinkle with walnuts

  9. Cool; cut into squares
