Cheddar Beer Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 T. sugar
  • 1 T. baking Powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 T. Chopped fresh sage (1 1/2 tsp. dry)
  • 1 1/2 c. (12 fl. oz) beer, freshly opened
  • 1 c. grated cheddar cheese.

Directions

  1. Makes 1 9" loaf or 3 small….

  2. Preheat oven 375*. Grease and flour pan (s).

  3. In a medium bowl stir and toss together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sage. Stir in the beer and cheese until completely blended.
  4. Spread evenly in prepared pan (s). Bake until a wooden toothpick inserted in center of loaf comes out clean, 50-55 minutes. [Check in 20 minutes and every 5 to 10 minutes after]. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
