Ingredients

  • Cheese
  • Flour
  • Bread Crumbs - plain or Italian
  • Milk
  • Eggs, beaten
  • Oil for deep frying

Directions

  1. You can use string cheese, already cubed cheese, or you can cut cheese blocks. If you use string cheese, I recommend cutting each into 2 or 3 pieces. The cheese should be cold, from the fridge. It is not necessary to freeze these at any time.

  2. There is no exact measurements for any other ingredient. Place eggs, milk, flour and bread crumbs in individual bowls. I recommend starting with 1-2 eggs, 1/2 – 3/4 c of milk, and 1 – 1 1/2 c each of flour and bread crumbs. Depending on how many you make, you may need to add more milk, eggs, flour, or bread crumbs.

  3. Start the oil heating.

  4. Coat the cheese in milk

  5. Roll the cheese in flour, ensuring it is covered completely, including the ends

  6. Dip the cheese in the eggs; you will need to ensure that it is fully coated, as it may not immediately stick. Roll the cheese around to ensure the entire piece of cheese is covered in egg.

  7. Coat in bread crumbs. Ensure the piece of cheese is fully coated. You may have some coating hanging off from the egg; you do not need to remove this.

  8. Ensure your oil is hot – 400 degrees if possible. Fry the cheese in small batches until it is desired golden color. This will only take 30-90 seconds or so.

  9. Drain on paper towels. Serve while still hot.
