Mac and Cheese

Won blue ribbon at state fair.
I make Mac and Cheese similar to this, but I use much milder cheeses. I don’t bake or put the crumbs on top, but it would be good.

Ingredients

  • 1 package 12 ounces macaroni
  • 3 tablespoon margarine
  • 3 tablespoon flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 pound sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/2 pound extra sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • cornflake crumbs, as needed

Directions

  1. Cook macaroni in boiling, salted water until tender. Drain and rinse.

  2. Make white sauce of margarine, flour, milk, and seasonings. Add cheese. Stir until melted.

  3. Pour macaroni in greased baking dishes. Sprinkle crumbs over top.

  4. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
