Cream Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 4 t. sugar (optional)
  • 2 t. baking powder
  • 6 T. (3/4) stick cold butter, cut into pieces
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F

  2. Stir together in a large bowl all ingredients except butter and cream.

  3. Cut the butter into flour with fingers or pastry blender until they are size of peas. Ad the heavy cream, but save 1 tablespoon before adding.

  4. Mix together until dough comes together, adding flour if necessary to make it workable. Roll on a floured board about 3/4 inch thick. Cut into 1-1/2 inch circles or squares.

  5. Place in a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and lightly brush the tops with saved cream. bake for 17 minutes or so.
