  • 1 lb. of ground beef
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • I medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 lb. white button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 medium tomatoes, diced
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1 French baguette
  • 8 slices of Provolone cheese
  • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil


  1. n a large sauté pan, add the ground beef and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. Once completely cooked, remove from pan and set aside.

  3. In the same pan, heat olive oil until hot. Add green peppers and onion cook for 3-4 minutes stirring occasionally. Add mushrooms to the peppers and onions and cook for 2-3 minutes, then add tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper and cook until onions, peppers and mushrooms are tender. Add ground beef and let it cook for another minute or two. Remove from heat, season with more salt and pepper to taste, or just more pepper if you are like my husband. Set aside.

  4. Turn the oven to broil, slice French baguette in half length and crosswise, butter all four pieces and place in oven until the top of the bread is toasted to a light golden brown. Remove from oven add meat and top with cheese, place back in over and broil until cheese is melted. Serve immediately.
