Apples and Sauerkraut

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sauerkraut
  • 1/4 cup fat
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 apples, cored and quartered
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. caraway seed
  • 2 small uncooked potatoes, pared and grated

Directions

  1. Combine sauerkraut, fat, water, apples and onion in saucepan. Cook slowly until apples are tender. Add salt, sugar, caraway seed and potatoes. Continue cooking about 5 minutes or until potatoes are done.
