Bas Saaru II – Dill

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Toor Dhal
  • 1 bunch dill, stems removed, chopped
  • 1/4 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Saar pudi, divided
  • 1 Tbsp dried coconut
  • Salt
  • Tamcon
  • Ogerne - mustard seeds, hingu, red chili, carbensapu

Directions

  1. Boil Dhal.

  2. When half cooked add dill, continue to boil.

  3. When fully cooked, strain liquid and reserve.

  4. While dhal and dill is cooking, blend coconut, pudi and onion with water.

  5. Place reserved water back into pot. Bring to a boil.

  6. Add salt, Tamcon and blended paste. Simmer until combined. Approximately 3 min.

  7. Make ogerne and add to Saaru

  8. For Dill and Dhal:

  9. Make ogerne, add dill and dhal.

  10. Add salt.

  11. Add Tamcon and 1 tsp. Saar Pudi (optional)
