EGG NOG

My Mom never wrote down this or most any recipes, but here is the best I can do….CHEERS!

Ingredients

  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cups sugar
  • 1/2 Gallon Turkey Hill Vanilla (Bean) ice cream (softened)
  • 1 gallon whole milk
  • 17 shots or 2 1/4 cups good quality bourbon or whiskey
  • 17 shots or 2 1/4 cups spiced rum (8 shots 0r 1c. if you want weaker egg nog}
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp nutmeg plus more for garnish

Directions

  1. Whisk eggs with sugar until creamy and sugar begins to dissolve.

  2. Mix ice cream, milk, bourbon and rum and stir to combine. Add nutmeg and vanilla.

  3. In Blender add part egg mixture/ part ice cream mixture until well blended, repeat until both mixture are incorporated…

  4. Chill well.

  5. Serve chilled with a sprinkle of nutmeg if desired. Taste and adjust as needed….

  6. Variation : Cook the eggs

  7. Making a danger-free eggnog is pretty easy too. Simply follow the same recipe above, but leave out the alcohol and mix only half the milk and ice cream into the blend, then heat the mixture in a glass or metal bowl over a pot of simmering water for about five or six minutes. Be sure to stir constantly. Refrigerate until well chilled.

  8. When ready to serve, simply stir in the remaining cream and milk, as well as the bourbon and rum.
