Kerrnel’s Amazing Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 6 T unsalted Butter
  • 1/4 cup White Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/8 t Salt
  • 1/4 t Cinnamon
  • 1/4 c Water
  • 4 large Apples (granny smith, honeycrisp, etc)
  • 2 Kerrnel's 9" Pie Crusts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425F.

  2. Melt butter in sauce pan over medium heat, stir in sugars, salt, cinnamon and water. Bring to boil, constantly stirring until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat.

  3. Put one pie crust in 9" dish, fill with apple slices.

  4. Cut other crust into 1"-wide strips and arrange in lattice over apple pie, crimping bottom crust over strip edges.

  5. Spoon caramel sauce over top of the pie covering much of the strips, allowing excess sauce to fall into the apple mixture. Careful on edges to avoid spillage.

  6. Bake 425F for 15 minutes, then reduce to 350F and cook for another 35-40 minutes until crust is golden brown and sauce is set on top and filling is bubbling.

  7. Allow to completely cool.
