Hamburger Stroganoff

Ingredients

  • 1 pound hamburger
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (about 1/2 cup)
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped, or 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 can (4 ounces) mushroom stems and pieces, drained 1 can (10 3/4 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup dairy sour cream or unflavored yogurt
  • 2 or 3 cups hot cooked noodles

Directions

  1. Cook and stir hamburger and onion in 10-inch skillet until hamburger is light brown. Drain grease.

  2. Stir in flour, salt, garlic, pepper and mushrooms. Cook, stirring constantly, 5 minutes. Stir in soup.

  3. Transfer to microwavable glass casserole dish. Refrigerate.

  4. Bring water to boiling point then stir in noodles. Cook noodles in boiling salted water for 8 -10 min.

  5. Meanwhile, heat hamburger mixture in microwave until thoroughly hot, (check with thermometer – should register 150°), stir occasionally.

  6. Stir in sour cream. Serve over hot noodles and, if desired, sprinkle with snipped parsley.
