Dutch Oven Chicken & Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pound deboned chicken tender pieces
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • garlic salt
  • pepper
  • 1 cup regular long grain rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 package dry chicken noodle soup mix
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (optional)
  • 5 medium carrots cut into quarters (optional)
  • OR
  • 1 can mixed vegetables (optional)
  • OR
  • 1 package frozen mixed vegetables (optional)

Directions

  1. Line dutch open with foil and pre-heat.

  2. Put oil into bottom of dutch oven and add chicken pieces and brown lightly. Sprinkle with just a little garlic salt, also pepper.

  3. Add on top of chicken the carrots OR the canned vegetables OR the frozen vegetables. Do not stir.

  4. Add on top of the vegetables or carrots the dry rice. Do not stir.

  5. Add on top of the rice the 1 package dry chicken noodle soup mix, sort of sprinkle this evenly. Do not stir. If you want to you can use cream of mushroom soup at this time instead of the chicken noodle soup mix.

  6. Pour the 2 cups water over all.

  7. Place over coals with a lid on and coals on lit. Cook for about 20 minutes, check to see if you need more water, add 1/2 cup at a time if you need it.

  8. When the carrots and rice and vegetables are tender, your meal is ready.
