Banana Pudding

Good old fashioned recipe.
Serve warm or chilled.
Personally I prefer the “Creamy Banana Pudding” recipe in this book.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 eggs separated
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • -
  • TOPPING:
  • 2 additional tablespoons sugar
  • pinch salt
  • vanilla wafers as needed
  • bananas as needed

Directions

  1. Combine 1/3 cup sugar and flour in pan. Add milk and boil slowly until thick. Remove from heat.

  2. Add 2 egg yolks, rapidly whisking in so you don’t have scrambled yolks. Add vanilla.

  3. Layer into bowl with vanilla wafers and bananas.

  4. TOPPING: Beat egg whites, gradually adding the 2 tablespoons sugar, until stiff peaks form.

  5. Top off pudding with egg whites, brown slightly in oven.
