(from cokerlj’s recipe box)

Ingredients

  • 1 large picnic ham
  • water

Directions

  1. Remove all wrapping and wash ham.

  2. Place into a very large stock pot.

  3. Fill with water about 2/3 way up on the ham.

  4. Bring to boil, turn heat down and simmer for 1 1/2 hour. Keeping water at a constant level.

  5. Using a couple of large forks, flip ham over in the pot. (You might need to get your husband to help and be careful not to splash yourself with the hot water.)

  6. Bring water level back up and simmer for another 1 1/2 hours.

  7. Remove from water. Let stand for 15 minutes and slice to serve.

  8. If you wish…you can make your favorite glaze and glaze your ham…Score the top skin of the ham in a “diamond” pattern, drizzle or brush with your favorite glaze. Place in the oven just long enough for glaze to set and brown.
