(from cokerlj’s recipe box)

I was making a stir fry when I realized I was out of Teriyaki Sauce…Google to the rescue…but I did my usual and added a few extra ingredients to make this sauce my own.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 5 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey, more to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger...grate some fresh ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder...or a couple cloves pressed fresh garlic
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
  • -
  • Additional ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup cold water

Directions

  1. Combine the 1 cup water and the remainder of the ingredients in the first list.

  2. Cook for about 1-2 minutes…I put mine in the microwave.

  3. Mix the cornstarch and the 1/4 cold water together in a cup; stir until dissolved. Add to the hot ingredients.

  4. Cook and stir sauce until thickened, 5-7 minutes. Again, I just cooked in the microwave.

  5. Pretty darn good substitute for store bought if you ask me!
