Linda’s Mixed Berry Trifle

Got the original recipe off the internet but changed several items to make life easier!

Ingredients

  • Fruit -
  • 3 cups fresh strawberries
  • 1 container sweetened frozen strawberries
  • 1 container fresh blueberries
  • -
  • Cake Layer -
  • Prepare one yellow cake mix as per directions but make in a large jelly roll pan.
  • Rum flavored Simple Syrup
  • Raspberry Jam
  • -
  • Vanilla Pudding Custard -
  • 1 pkg small Jello INSTANT Vanilla Pudding
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • -
  • Final Topping -
  • 1 container Cool Whip
  • Extra Strawberries and Blueberries for decorations.

Directions

  1. CAKE LAYER – Bake Cake according to directions on box in a jelly roll pan. Cool.

  2. Brush with a Rum flavored simple syrup. Then brush with Raspberry Jam. Heat the Raspberry jam in the microwave to make it easier to brush on. Wrap and chill overnight.

  3. VANILLA PUDDING CUSTARD – Mix water and Sweetened condensed milk together. Add Package of Instant Vanilla pudding and mix well according to package directions. Place in fridge to chill.

  4. While pudding is chilling whip cream until stiff peaks form.

  5. Fold into the Pudding mixture. Set aside.

  6. BUILDING YOUR LAYERS – Slice strawberries and carefully line the bottom outside layer of your trifle bowl.

  7. Cut your cake up into 1 inch squares. Place 1/3 of the cake inside of this ring of strawberries.

  8. Top with 1/3 of the Vanilla pudding custard.

  9. Top with most of the blueberries.

  10. Top Blueberries with 1/3 cake. Top this with another 1/3 of the Vanilla Cream.

  11. Then line sliced strawberries around outside edge of bowl and put some sliced strawberries in the center, topping these with the frozen strawberries.

  12. Top with final 1/3 of the cake…1/3 Vanilla cream…and a final ring of sliced strawberries.

  13. Add some Cool Whip on top and garnish with whole fresh strawberried and blueberries.
