Burger Balls

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb block cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup olive oil, divided
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 3 tsp minced onion
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup bacon bits

Directions

  1. Cut cheese into 1/2 inch cubes and place in freezer to chill

  2. Preheat oven to 450

  3. In a large bowl, combine beef, egg, onion and garlic

  4. Form beef into 2 inch balls; press with your palms to slightly flatten them

  5. Push a small amount of bacon bits and a cheese cube into the ball and close beef around it to make a seal

  6. Place olive oil in an -oven safe saute pan and warm over medium-high heat

  7. Place burger balls in heated pan so that they are not touching (you will likely have to do 2 batches); sear the balls by rolling them around in the pan

  8. After 1-2 min of searing, place the entire pan in preheated oven and cook 5-7 min
