Fried Pie Crust

The perfect crust for making fried pies.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup cold milk

Directions

  1. Mix together flour and salt.

  2. Cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly.

  3. Slowly add milk and stir until dough forms a ball.

  4. Roll out dough and cut into 18, 6-inch circles.

  5. Fill circles with your choice of fruit fillings. (You can make your own fillings using the “Kolaches – Fillings” recipes in this book.)

  6. Moisten outer edges of dough with water and seal closed with the tines of a fork.

  7. Slide into a pan of hot grease…fry until golden.

  8. Remove to cookie sheet lined with brown paper or paper towels, sprinkle with sugar or make a glaze of powdered sugar and milk.
