Bluefinger say – little bit bland, but a good basis. Try chop chillies, add fennel, nutmeg etc for more flavour. Bit less ghee.
Orig poster says: My husband’s mother taught me this recipe, an authentic Hyderabadi-style biryani that is a trademark of home-cooking in south India. The chicken, spices and rice all cook in the same frying pan.

The gal that posted the recipe said these bars were “much requested” and that “people die over them” so I had to give em a whirl. The recipe was super easy, the crust came together in a snap using my food processor and the filling was even more simplistic (I love simple)! I snuck a taste of the filling before I poured it onto the crust and for a moment, I felt compelled to lick the bowl. Seriously, these bars are amazing, if you like pecans, make this recipe!

Basil eggplant is a simple dish to make. The basil and chili pepper, however, turn the mundane eggplant into something exciting. It can also be made without peppers for kids.

In Thailand, the eggplants are green and long and unlike the big dark purplish eggplants that you can find in supermarkets here in the US. Purple Japanese eggplant is used in the pictures here, but any eggplant ie. American or Japanese can be used in this recipe.

You might need to buy:
  • eggplants
  • sugar
  • fish sauce
  • vegetable oil
  • chili peppers

Chicken Basil, or Gai Pad Gra Pow, is one of the classics of Thai food and is surprising easy to make. You know you’ve made Chicken Basil right when the heat from the chili peppers plays just under the flavor of the gra pow and the fish sauce. Don’t be afraid to use what seems like an excessive amount of gra pow leaves – they make the dish.
